OnePlus Foldable Phone Could Be More Affordable Than Samsung’s Fold In India

OnePlus is about to launch its first foldable device called the OnePlus Open, and the company is slowly laying the groundwork to get people excited. The OnePlus Open is said to be a challenger to Samsung’s foldable lineup, but the company seems to be taking a different route when it comes to pricing the product.

New leaked reports suggest that the OnePlus Open could be priced under Rs 1.2 lakh, which is around Rs 40,000 lower than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 that was launched a few weeks ago. Folding phones are gradually becoming more accessible and except for the Techno fold which costs less than Rs 90,000, most other models are above a lakh.

OnePlus should realize that with Samsung-like pricing, its foldable won’t have many supporters, so a competitive lineup will give it a chance among the big guys. And don’t forget that you also have the Google Pixel Fold, which oddly enough is currently being sold in select markets, giving OnePlus the perfect opportunity to one-up the Pixel maker.

OnePlus is definitely close to launching the product, but according to reports, the company has decided to delay the launch of its foldable device. It is assumed that the company has made a last-minute decision to switch its display supplier from BOE to using Samsung panels. It’s likely that OnePlus felt that the performance of the BOE display was not up to par with its product, and therefore using a Samsung panel seemed like an obvious decision.

Testing of the OnePlus Open on a Samsung display seems to have already started and we should probably get more updates from the brand in the coming weeks, in preparation for the big launch event. Expect the company to have a powerful device that appeals equally to shutterbugs.
